Page 3The Dutch
At first glance, the food at The Dutch in Soho looks about as straightforward as it can get. But look more carefully, and you'll find some unexpected and welcome twists.
Balthazar
Balthazar is a Soho institution—a French brasserie that will get the job done for almost any situation.
Lure Fishbar
Lure Fishbar is still just as much of a Soho party yacht as it was when it opened in 2004, and it's a good spot for an upscale sushi-and-burger experience.
Papatzul
Papatzul seems to be just more middle-of-the road Mexican that pairs acceptably with strong margaritas. It’s the kind of place where you have to yell at the person sitting across from you, and should probably order everything the moment you see your server because you might not see him again for a while.
Charlie Bird
Most everything on the menu at Charlie Bird is fantastic. They do service and wine better than almost anyone else.
Niche Niche
Niche Niche is a dinner party inside a Soho townhouse, where there’s a different wine list and menu every night.
Ed's Lobster Bar
We’ve put this one off long enough and it’s time to come right out and say it – we don’t love Ed’s Lobster Bar. It’s all reasonable ocean fare, but none of it leaves us anxiously awaiting next time.
Ciccio
Ciccio is an Italian restaurant in the bottom of an apartment building in Soho. It’s a charming, casual spot, perfect for catching up with a friend.
Osteria Morini
Osteria Morini is a popular Italian restaurant on Lafayette street, known for pasta and lots of lambrusco. Expect crowds and very little elbow room.
Jack's Wife Freda
A good spot for your weekend brunch rotation, but don't rely on it for dinner. Jack's Wife Freda does not get better when the sun goes down.
La Sirène
La Sirène has changed a bit over the last few years, but this French cult favorite in a strange part of SoHo is still pretty damn good and pretty damn authentic.
Little Prince
Little Prince needs a lot of fine tuning. We really wanted to love this place. But don’t hire a bunch of waiters just because they look cool, and don’t fail on technique when you’re serving French food.
Pepe Rosso To Go
Pepe Rosso To Go is a tiny Italian takeout place in Soho that has a few tables inside and does a pretty decent plate of pasta.
Lupe’s East LA Kitchen
Lupe’s is a California-style Mexican restaurant on a corner in southwest Soho. It feels like a fun diner, and it’s where you go for casual enchiladas.
Blue Ribbon Sushi
If you’re looking for a place to order à la carte nigiri, maki, and sashimi in Soho, this iconic late-night spot is still your best option.
Upside Pizza
Upside Pizza in Soho is a great slice shop that serves a tangy cheese slice made with sourdough.
Where To Eat Ethiopian Food Downtown
Our favorite Ethiopian restaurants below 34th Street in Manhattan.
Brigadeiro Bakery
This tiny cafe in Soho makes fantastic Brazilian baked goods and sweets like brigadeiros.
