Page 4La Contenta
La Contenta is a Mexican bar and restaurant on the Lower East Side that’s the ultimate neighborhood hang for fish tacos and tequila.
Taqueria Diana
This is not a taqueria. This is a temple to the holy Mission burrito. Pray before it, lest you be forsaken.
Belle Reve
Belle Reve is a sort of bar/gastropub that’s known to turn into a full on party from time to time. The food is good, but the partying is better.
Cowgirl Sea-Horse
For a relatively cheap place with ample space and good drinks, I’m not complaining. For the Seaport, it’s definitely a good option. Put this restaurant anywhere else though, and we’d keep on walking.
The Odeon
Around since 1980, The Odeon is a New York City classic. It may not be the same downtown destination that it was thirty years ago, but they still serve very respectable bistro food and stiff drinks, and brunch is always reliable.
Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken
Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken is a counter-service spot in the East Village that serves some of the best fried chicken in the city.
Miss Lily’s 7A Cafe

Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya on the Lower East Side is an ideal destination for impressing a big group of sushi, meat, or veggie-loving friends.
Sticky’s Finger Joint
Sticky’s Finger Joint is a counter-service spot in Murray Hill where you can get chicken fingers and fries late-night.
Takahachi
The neighborhood sushi joint of the East Village, Takahachi is affordable and filled with regulars.
Wilfie & Nell
Wilfie & Nell is, first and foremost, a place you come to drink, rather than a place you come to eat. Consider it an added bonus that the bar food you’ll likely be eating while standing near a tiny ledge is pretty good.
Izakaya Mew
An underground izakaya on 35th Street best used for drunk nights after a show at Madison Square Garden.
Corner Bistro
There’s something about pounding cheap beers and burgers here that makes you feel like anything is possible. When we finally decided it was go time for “Immaculate” Infatuation, we were sitting in Corner Bistro. A great burger, and a classic establishment.
The Smith Midtown
If Midtown East is the final frontier of food-obsessed New York City, The Smith Midtown is the Starship Enterprise.
Otto’s Tacos
Otto’s Tacos is a casual East Village taco place with a simple menu, homemade tortillas, and much-needed West Coast flavor.
Sweet Chick
Chicken, waffles, an unpretentious vibe, and communal atmosphere are the things that make us love Sweet Chick.

People are waiting an hour for egg sandwiches at Nolita’s Egg Shop. Is it worth it? Time to investigate.
Morgan's BBQ
Morgan’s BBQ is some of the best barbecue you can get without having to go down to Red Hook for Hometown.
The Meatball Shop Chelsea
Reliable, delicious, and full of balls. If there’s not at Meatball Shop near you already, there will be soon. This thing is about to go full Shake Shack.
Empellon Al Pastor
New York City will never be LA, Austin, San Diego, or Mexico, but we suddenly have some quality taco options to choose form. Add Empellón Al Pastor to that list.
L’Express
A 24 hour French cafe that is good for everything from casual dinner with friends, to business lunch, to going face down in a burger at 3am.
