Evergreens Salad
Suppose you made a pact with yourself to eat healthier lunches during the week, but the thought of eating more vegetables also kind of makes you want to stab a piñata filled with baby carrots. (And then not eat any of the carrots.) Evergreens is one of your only options for leafy greens in the neighborhood. It’s a small, cramped assembly-line situation where people line up for made-to-order salads, and you can choose from one of their house options (like a spicy kale caesar or cobb) or build your own. While we're not happy with the fact that they don't chop the salads anymore, the toppings and dressings here are good ways to make plants taste good. It’ll set you back around $15, and yeah, there might be a rogue piece of nasty brown lettuce in the bowl. But if you wanted a salad, it's technically what you wished for.
