This is the newest installment of the monopoly of restaurants owned by the same people as The Walrus and The Carpenter and Bateau, but we’d tell you to go the others instead. The Whale Wins is a sunny palace of good vibes, with an especially charming patio, but the food isn’t as excellent as what we’re used to having at those other establishments. (Which is to say, it’s pretty good by most standards.)
The menu is mostly vegetables, and the portions are so small that you’ll spending a lot of money only to likely be starving in an hour. Get the salt-roasted half chicken if you want to eat something that doesn’t grow in the ground, and always start with the sea wolf bakery bread.
