Thanks to a lovely verandah and excellent views, the Shoreditch branch of modern Indian restaurant Dishoom is one of our favourites.
Tayyabs
Tayyab’s is an Indian restaurant and classic spot in the East End, serving Punjabi curry and sizzling lamb chops in a laid back room.
Dishoom King’s Cross
Set in an old Victorian warehouse, the King’s Cross branch is the brightest and airiest of the Dishoom restaurants.
Pizarro
Pizarro is a Spanish restaurant in Bermondsey with excellent wine and tapas. Get the Iberico Presa and croquetas.
Kêu City
Keu’s shop in the Square Mile has the same excellent Vietnamese banh mi and rice boxes as the Shoreditch original. It’s perfect for lunch.
Sager + Wilde Paradise Row
Sager + Wilde’s Bethnal Green outpost brings good wine and Italian eats, and mixes it with railway arch vibes and plenty of outdoor seats for summer.
Café TPT
There are lots of restaurants in Chinatown to visit if you just want a plate of roast meat and rice, or some noodles, but TPT is our favourite.
Dishoom Covent Garden
The Covent Garden location of trendy Indian restaurant Dishoom is the original, and also the smallest.
J Sheekey
J Sheekey is a classic West End post-theatre hang where you might spot a celebrity and will be guaranteed to have a great meal.
Sagar Vegetarian
Sagar is a South Indian vegetarian restaurant where the food is incredibly consistent and always tasty.
Farang
Farang is a long term pop-up Thai restaurant in Highbury with excellent curries and a whole seabass that’ll make you happy.
Ippudo London
Compared to other ramen restaurants, Ippudo in Covent Garden has the advantage of a cool-looking dining room, a bigger menu, and more room for groups.
Four Seasons | 文興酒家
The Four Seasons in Chinatown is famous for their roast duck, which is not only excellent but one of the best things you can eat in London.
Berber & Q
Berber & Q is a Middle Eastern/North African restaurant in Haggerston where locals hang and eat things from the grill. You want those things.
Dinings
Dinings is a very cosy sushi counter and downstairs Japanese restaurant that just happens to have some of the most serious sushi in London.
Caravan
An Exmouth Market original, New Zealand cafe and restaurant Caravan does great coffee and an excellent brunch.
Berber & Q Shawarma Bar
From the folks behind Berber & Q, this casual shawarma spot in Clerkenwell is a laid-back, solid bet for Middle Eastern dishes.
