The Helm is a little converted house that replaced a Thai restaurant in Fremont, and it’s pretty cool inside. Between the nautical feel and the benches covered in pillows, it’s a great spot for frozen sangria and smoked tater tots with the gang or a date when you want to hear the other person. But the service isn’t great, even when the whole joint is empty.
