Star Brass Lounge is a low-key dive bar with solid, inexpensive bar food. Packed with locals and serving excellent local beer, it’s one of the best spots in Georgetown to spend a few hours. The double-tavern burger is great, the homemade pretzel platter with beer cheese, apples, grapes, and a crispy-grilled brat is a solid deal at $10, and we could tear through the fried cod bites like popcorn at the movies. Come with friends for drinks and dinner before a night out.

Slow Boat Tavern is a weirdly decorated, low-key beer bar in Hillman City great for a drink with friends (and for eating shelled peanuts).

When you want a theme bar kind of night, go to Unicorn on Capitol Hill. You’ll find corndogs, arcade games, and a long list of sugary cocktails.

Head to Ciudad, a Middle Eastern spot in Georgetown, for a solid mezze and grilled meat dinner that won’t be too expensive.
