This Upper East Side Austrian restaurant goes by two names: Hütte in the winter and Blume in the summer. Do we understand this? No. But the truth is that you don’t really need to, especially considering you’ll be distracted by their incredible, hidden courtyard.
To get to the backyard, you have to go past their Schaller & Weber sausage stand on the 2nd Avenue, down a flight of stairs, through a dining room, and up another set of stairs. What you’ll find on the other side is a confusingly rainforest-esque wonder. We’d recommend it the next time you’re looking for someplace unique uptown - just make a reservation ahead of time since things get busy here.
