Check out these restaurants, pop-ups, and special events all around NYC.
If the fall-preview weather this week is any indication, it’s time to start getting serious. About what, we do not know, but at least the transition is gentle. Over the next week, you can get cozy with a new dinner and movie series, then hit one of the summer’s last block parties when the sun returns this weekend. Or, if you're a teacher, you can get back-to-school deals that involve more drinks than binders. Read on to find more fun events.
The first day of school can be a bit of a shock, and we don’t mean for the kids. Teachers are getting some help with that transition with back-to-school Happy Hour deals all over the city, including one at Bronx Ale House on Thursday at 7pm. You’ll get 10% off your check. More details here.
There are still some BBQs going down around these parts, and we’re extra excited about the annual one at The Meat Hook. This year they’re teaming up with Win Son to cook up sides like jie lan, guohua salad, and shredded potato salad. Get there early—they’re going from 5pm to whenever they sell out. More info here.

Metrograph Commissary
Planning dates is stressful, so let the Metrograph Theater do the work for you. Their Tastermaker series is specifically food and wine-related, and it includes a wine tasting so you and your date can become wine snobs together. They’ll be screening Blind Ambition, a doc about a group of South African refugees who become sommeliers, this Thursday. More info here.
PDA is having their next block party this Saturday in support of the queer community. There’ll be DJs, jello shots, poutine, and of course, PDA’s Detroit-style pizza out on the patio. Williamsburg taproom Talea Beer Co. is providing the libations. Be there from 4-10pm.
Leo has proven itself when it comes to sourdough, so they've invited Montreal's Pasta Pooks to teach them a little something about handmade pasta. Learn something yourself after your taste their handmade pasta at the slice shop starting at noon this Sunday. More info here.
