You might've heard about the double tavern burger at Loretta’s Northwesterner, a dive bar in South Park. If not, allow us to introduce you. It’s essentially what an apron-clad dad in a grill commercial thinks his backyard patties taste like—a gloriously charred double-stacked burger with special sauce, pickles, cheese, onions, and that’s it. Simple and effective. The tavern burger successfully lives up to the enormous hype surrounding it, and tastes just as good with hand-cut fries and a beer at the bar as it does wrapped in wax paper to go. Loretta’s has a very cool back patio for hanging out, but it’s also not a bad idea to bring your burger to Left Bank and enjoy it alongside a glass of natural wine.
