Just because you can’t sit at a bar doesn’t mean you can’t pretend you’re on “Mad Men” tonight.

Finding a good gin martini is difficult. Finding a good gin martini to-go is damn near impossible. But we’ve done it. And even though martinis are best consumed while sitting at a dark bar and glaring at people, sitting in your dark living room and glaring at the TV is a surprisingly good back-up option. Here are five spots to order a martini to-go in LA. We’ll leave the acrimony to you.

THE SPOTS

Here And Now

$$$$ 300 S Santa Fe Ave Ste N

Downtown LA’s Here And Now serves seriously impressive cocktails, and they’re just as good when you get them to-go. At the top of the list, for us, is the 2:1 Martini. This gin martini goes a bit heavy on the vermouth - which may be an acquired taste - but theirs is made in-house, and we find that it balances out the gin very nicely. Order online.

Father's Office

$$$$
$$$$ 3229 Helms Ave

Father’s Office in Culver City serves an extremely untraditional gin martini, made with Lillet instead of dry vermouth. And, even though we’d normally say not to mess with a classic, we have to admit this one is pretty great. The liqueur adds a subtle sweetness that we can absolutely get behind. Order online.

The Semi-Tropic

$$$$
$$$$ 1412 Glendale Blvd

The Semi-Tropic is one of our favorite spots for cocktail delivery, because it’s affordable, super-fast, and is usually brought to our place by the bar’s owner (who also likely made the drink). And one of our favorite drinks there is the Green Party martini, which subs in sherry for the vermouth, is garnished with a Persian cucumber, and is gone in approximately three minutes, so be sure to do what we do - order multiples. Call (213) 568-3827 to order.

Melrose Umbrella Co

$$$$ 7465 Melrose Ave

Melrose Umbrella Co. is best known for their next-level, many-ingredient tiki cocktails. But they do classic cocktails just as well. The gin martini is dry, well-proportioned, and made with tremendous Ford’s Gin. Plus, it comes in a one-and-a-half sized serving, which means it’s big, but not so big that you feel like you have to share. Order online.

Little Dom's

Little Dom's

$$$$
$$$$ 2128 Hillhurst Ave.

We’ll be honest: We really miss being able to sit at Little Dom’s on a random Monday night, gulping down martinis next to increasingly drunk celebrities. But for now, we’re content to stay at home and watch one of those celebrities on Mad Men (do you know who it is yet?), while drinking their Eastside Martini bottled to-go. It’s a classic dry martini with a touch of cucumber and mint added, giving it an herbal, cool quality that we really like. Call (323) 661-0055 to order.
