With relaxed dining restrictions in the city, several restaurants and bars have restarted one of the greatest traditions known to mankind: Happy Hour. Philadelphians may have missed out on Center City Sips this summer, but there are still several locations serving up food and drink deals. Whether your scene is a fun beer hall, streetery, or rooftop lounge, the city has you covered. At these 18 places, you can sip everything from large fishbowls drinks to classic cocktails all in the open air.

$$$$ 1875 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy

When: Tuesday-Saturday, 4-6 pm

The Deal: $5 Beers, $8 Bubbles, and $10 Daily Rotating Bartender Cocktails

With one of the best views in the city, Assembly Rooftop Lounge on the Ben Franklin Parkway has fire pits, couches, plenty of spacing, and an amazing Happy Hour. With $10 cocktails like the rose gold margarita and a sparkling rosé drink called “Old Cuban,” you’ll be making cheers boomerangs nonstop with your friends.

Independence Beer Garden

When: Wednesday-Sunday, 3-7pm

The Deal: $4-$6 Small Plates, $4 Beers, $5 Wine, and $6 Specialty Cocktails.

Winning a major Jenga battle at this outdoor beer garden may not be the symbol of victory like the Liberty Bell is next door, but it’s a success that you can relish in with a $6 margarita. The gravel-filled outdoor space is filled with industrial frames and string lighting, and their al pastor tacos, topped with a tangy pineapple salsa, go great with any of their cocktails of the day.

At Walnut Street Cafe, Happy Hour goes by the name “Golden Hour.” With its proximity to the Schuylkill River, this outdoor patio has great views to go with large cocktails, like a $5 spiced pear whiskey smash and white sangria, served in tropical cups. You can also get $5 fried chicken sandwich skewers, a flavorful watermelon salad, and a mini charcuterie plate.

El Poquito

The Deal: $3 Corona Light and Dos Equis and $6 Margaritas, Sangria, House wines, and La Casa Specials (Shot and a Beer)

Every time we’re in Chestnut Hill, it feels like Doc Brown floored the DeLorean to 88 mph and drove us into the past. It’s not just an escape from the busyness of the city, it’s also great for enjoying Happy Hour in a beautiful setting. And the one at El Poquito isn’t something you have to overthink - almost every drink in the house is $6. On Mondays, you can also get $15 off margarita pitchers making their patio the perfect sit-and-sip spot for any group.

The Deal: $1 off all Drafts, $2 Oregano Fries and 16-ounce Rolling Rock, $4 Craft Beer Cans, $5 Cocktails of the Week, $6 Glasses of Four Roses Bourbon, Citywide, and Jameson

It’s not every day you can bite the face off of a Founding Father. But if you get the “It’s All About The Benjamins” cocktail at Drury Beer Garden, which comes with an edible $100 bill, that’s exactly what you can do. Their spacious Mediterranean-themed garden is lined with bright picnic tables, and if you’re looking for a full post-Happy-Hour meal, Opa is right next door.

Devil's Den

The Deal: $4 Select Beers, $5 Wines, and Select Cocktail Deals

This Passyunk Avenue-adjacent gastropub has a Happy Hour of rotating beers and wines every weekday. Whether you’re seated at the street tables lining the restaurant or their new beer garden on 11th street, nothing on their Happy Hour menu is over $5. The cozy bar offers plenty of seasonal cocktail options including their new apple-topped fall sangria.

When: Wednesday through Friday 3-5pm

The Deal: $6 Ciders, Seasonal Small Plates, and $12 Local Cheeses

Fork switches out the usual Happy Hour pub grub for its “Cider & Cheese” hour on their heated streetery. From a range of ciders, honeynut squash and cheese skewers, and butternut squash soup, you’ll see shades of the fall not just on the Chestnut Street leaves but on their menu as well.

The Deal: Rotating Wine, Beer, and Food Specials

Driving through Center City can be a pain on the best of days. Why not trade the red light staredowns for Happy Hour deals at a.kitchen + a.bar? The Rittenhouse Square restaurants feature rotating specialty drinks including the fluorescent “Blue Sirenia” cocktail made with gin, St. Germain, and blue curaçao. With deals available at both locations, you can start at one spot and finish up next door.

When: Monday-Friday, and Sunday 5:30-7pm

The Deal: $1.50 Oysters, $6 Cocktails, and $5 Beers

Fond offers a rare Sunday Happy Hour each week. And, with the way the Eagles are playing, you’ll need every discounted drink you can get. At the popular South Philly spot, you can enjoy $1.50 oysters on the sidewalk while viewing the Singing Fountain nearby.

The Deal: $3.50 Beer of the Day and $6.50 Americana Pizza

The only thing better than pizza and beer is discounted pizza and beer. Celebrate cool West Philly evenings outside at this firehouse turned microbrewery. On the outdoor patio, you can bite into a delicious Americana pizza with each slice oozing mozzarella.

Graffiti Bar

The Deal: $4 Satays, $5 Dumplings and Spring Rolls, $5 Bao Buns, and $5 House Wines, Beers, and Speciality Cocktails

Graffiti Bar nearly disappears into a busy strip of Center City between all the shops and restaurants. The hidden bar, tucked behind Sampan, is full of bright street art and long communal tables. The daily Happy Hour includes small plates like flavorful General Tso soup dumplings and plump tuna rice crackers topped with sesame, nori, and soy.

Frankford Hall gets more action than the BSL and MFL Free Interchange on most days. The massive outdoor biergarten features long wood tables and warming fire pits for cool nights. During the discounted hours, try the Germany and Philly mash-up: the Bavarian cheesesteak. They take a warm pretzel roll, pack it with chopped bauernwurst and onions, and drown it in a cheese sauce.

The Twisted Tail

Check out the latest at Headhouse Square under sun covering umbrellas on The Twisted Tail’s outdoor streetery. During “Social Hour” the Southern restaurant and whiskey joint offers smoked bacon and corn fritters, heirloom tomato bruschetta, truffle mushroom rice balls, bourbon Old Fashioneds, and more.

This popular jazz lounge on North Broad is known for its delicious Southern food and great live music. The outdoor garden also has a sizable Happy Hour menu including, buttery and crispy Louisiana crawfish fritters, Nashville hot chicken sliders, bourbon punch, and orchid martinis. The gorgeous courtyard is full of canopy lighting for evenings and a plush garden wall as well.

Enjoy their take on the Citywide or a massive Suntory Toki whiskey highball pitcher at any of their comfortable sidewalk tables. And don’t pass up the $3 glazed chicken skewers or a $4 crunchy yuba veggie roll packed with pickled daikon, carrot, avocado, and yuzu miso sauce.

Pitchers of sangria and margaritas on Taqueria Amor’s roomy patio can go a long way towards unwinding from a busy day. And with all of the tacos discounted at the Mexican spot, you can choose between everything from blackened mahi mahi to plant-based options like cauliflower tacos topped with a red chile garbanzo puree.

If you have Happy Hour on a ship on your 2020 bingo card, Moshulu has you covered. With waterfront views and the Ben Franklin Bridge as a backdrop, catching up with friends will never look better. Try their spicy tuna crispy rice with masago spicy mayo while you’re there. With live music playing each day during dinner service, you could very well turn your Happy Hour into a dinner dance party.
