The Rockwell Place is a cocktail bar in Fort Greene, and it’s perfect for when you want to grab a drink with a friend or a date, but you don’t necessarily need to take a bunch of shots and possibly fall asleep on your subway ride home. It’s a long room with high ceilings and a couple of skylights, and while there isn’t really any standing room, there are plenty of bar seats and little tables where you can sit down and drink a good cocktail. If you need a nice place to spend time before or after you see something at the Barclays Center, keep this in mind.

If you have a date in Brooklyn, consider Elsa. It’s cozy, good-looking, and there’s a big cocktail list. If you’re likable, the date should go fine.

Karasu is a Japanese speakeasy/izakaya you find by going through the back door of Walter’s in Fort Greene. Go for cocktails and fried chicken.

Walter's has mastered the art of the perfect neighborhood restaurant. Plus, we're pretty sure it's named after a dog.
