Ruinas de Copan & Bar
This large Honduran spot in Mott Haven is more than just a place to eat. People come to watch sports on TV, and the space features a jukebox, two pool tables, and big speakers on stands that we can only hope get hooked up to microphones while people sing into them. The food is another reason to come. You can get dishes like conch soup, carne asada, and shrimp ceviche. For a variety of things on one plate, order the special breakfast platter. It has eggs, refried beans, plantains, and a protein. (We like the beef that’s a little chewy like jerky.) You can wrap everything in burrito-size flour tortillas that are almost as thick as pita bread. Be sure to order some pupusas on the side. They’re our favorite things here.
