Good bar food is not such an easy find in Manhattan. Generally speaking, the wings in NYC are a joke, and you usually wind up spending way more money than you actually should on them, and they’re rarely even good.

Not at Reservoir.

Looking for a good place to post up for a night of grubbing, game watching, and beer drinking? This is your spot. Reservoir has some of the best buffalo style wings in the city. They also have solid burgers, reubens, make tremendous waffle fries, AND even have a pool table. When was the last time you played pool? In terms of no frills bar food, Reservoir ranks among our favorites

Yes, the crowd is very NYU heavy, so prepare for that. It’s a NY bar always, but during football season, Reservoir transforms into a Steelers bar. Prepare accordingly.

Oh, and two tips: If you’re getting a burger, make sure you order a ‘Buffalo Burger’ - it’s better than their normal burger and not on the menu. Also, Sunday night is wing night - thirty cents apiece. You’re going to want to pay attention to that.

Basket Of Wings

They can be hit or miss, but a good batch of Reservoir wings can be among the best in NYC. If it’s a miss though, well, it’s a miss. They have a ton of different sauce options, but we suggest sticking straight buffalo. We always convince ourselves to do some honey-garlic, only to wish we got more buffalo later. FYI the hot are seriously hot, and the medium even leave your mouth burning a little. Go easy.

Buffalo Burger & Waffle Fries

A very solid pub burger: plump, juicy, and oozing with goodness. Also, CHEAP by today’s standards at $8.50

Mozzarella Sticks

Because this is the kind of place you order mozz sticks.

Reservoir House Salad

Sleeper salad. A nice helping of greens, cucumbers, and tomatoes served with a great dijon vinaigrette.

Cajun Chicken Wrap

It’s on the menu as a club but it’s even better as a wrap. All of their chicken sandwiches are good.

Reuben

A warm meat sandwich of sliced corned beef with sauerkraut and melted swiss on grilled rye with thousand island dressing. You win.

Bonnie's Grill

Bonnie's Grill is a great neighborhood spot with a full menu of divey bar food classics. However, we still need better options for wings in the city, and Bonnie's doesn't quite make the cut.

In truth, without a basketball court and Walt Clyde Frazier's involvement, we wouldn’t be talking about the Wine and Dine. The space is massive, the layout is clunky, but the food is pretty good. If you're a hoops fan, it's a must visit.
