You'll hear a lot of "ohmygods" at Penny, a seafood spot located right above Claud, from the same team, in the East Village. Ohmygod, that clam went down so smoothly! Ohmygod, is that puff pastry on an oyster roast? Ohmygod, this is the best shrimp cocktail ever, can we get another one? The quality of the seafood at Penny is exceptional, and it’s worth following your mini ice-box of raw seafood with a whole lobster, or stuffed squid. With chefs and servers jostling behind the 31-seat, shoulder-to-shoulder counter, it’s pretty chaotic. But when their vanilla and balsamic strawberry ice cream sandwich on sesame brioche appears, you’ll still hear it over the loud conversation and Japanese city pop: the night’s final ohmygod.
