Little Grenjai
New York has no shortage of smashburgers. New York might even have too many smashburgers. None of them taste quite like the krapow smash at Little Grenjai in Bed-Stuy. It’s topped with American cheese, holy basil, lemongrass-y giardiniera, and spicy-sweet special sauce, and it’s made in a kitchen that doesn’t even have gas yet, which is quite the meat-related feat.
This Thai American restaurant from the couple behind Warung Roadside has a limited menu for now, but the red-tiled bar in the window, complete with a Lego flower bouquet, looks like it’ll be the premiere spot for eating khao soi later this fall. Until then, swing by for coffee, congee, and Thai tea cake, and imagine a world in which you can come here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
