And just like that, homestyle cab driver food is taking off on the Lower East Side. From the people behind C as in Charlie, this walk-in-only restaurant populated with retro beige fans and old family photos is modeled after the quick, affordable spots that cater to Korean taxi drivers. No matter your occupation, you’ll find it incredibly useful. The menu offers four set meals with options that include thinly sliced bulgogi and charred spicy pork, each of which comes with a variety of bottomless sides like soy-marinated shrimp, rolled omelet, and sodduck sodduck. You also get rice and soup. All in, the filling meal will run you $32 per person—unless you add a bottle of soju or cheongju. A cab driver probably wouldn’t, but you should.
