If you like Persian food—actually, scratch that—if you like good food, preferably on a shaded outdoor patio, you’ll love a leisurely meal at Azizam. This daytime Persian cafe in Silver Lake was a pop-up before it opened one of the most charming spaces in the neighborhood. It’s a small corner shop with lots of dangling plants and big windows that pour in natural light. You order at the counter, and in less than ten minutes, a colorful spread of homey Persian dishes appears: freshly baked barbari, fluffy dampokhtak with a juicy chicken leg on top, and grapefruit-sized kofteh tabrizi studded with softened walnuts and dried barberries. You can certainly dine here alone, but we suggest ordering family-style with a friend so you can try as much as possible and still have room for their Persian Mille-Feuille. It’s a patisserie spin on baklava filled with layers of soft cream and just as incredible as it sounds.
