Tokyo Pizza

When we check out a pizza place we usually try the margherita first. That’s what we were planning to do at Tokyo Pizza, a small, underground bunker of a restaurant on Maida Vale until we saw a server deliver the wagyu pizza to a table next to us. Did we get it? Yes. Did it taste good? Absolutely - the dough’s springy and the barbecue-style sauce has a savoury zing that kept us going back for more long after we were full. Is it worth £21? We’re not so sure, that’s quite a lot of money for an 11-inch pizza. With that said, we’re obliged to remind you that this isn’t money-supermarket and we’re not the value police. What we can tell you is that Tokyo Pizza is a fun and casual option for a date in W9. There are crunchy cabbage salads dressed in almond butter, there are wagyu haramaki, and there are those those pizzas, topped with unusual combinations like kimchi and salami, or goats’ cheese and sweet miso. They even have a margherita.
