Dessert shouldn’t be the only saving grace at the end of a meal, but that’s exactly the case at Jackson Street Pizza Lounge. This Central District pizzeria serves an outstanding sticky caramelized banana date cake with a toffee drizzle, and we’d be perfectly content enjoying a slice every morning with coffee. The problem is, it’s the best dish on a menu full of dry meatballs and disappointing pizza. Even with promising toppings like pineapple and chorizo or egg yolk and guanciale, the crust is so thin, dry, and crunchy that you’ll end up covered in crumbs that don't even taste that good. If you're looking for great pizza, there are much better spots around the city to check out instead.
