ThisBowl, an Australian import to Noho, makes fancy salads for a hoard of people in tan leggings and claw clips. Inside, it looks and sounds like a store that could convince you to spend too much money on a pair of sneakers. But their bowls, all around $16, are actually really good.

You can build your own, but we'd recommend going with one of the house favorites, like The O.G., or the miso salmon. Order at the counter, where someone will explain that the crispy crunch has fried shallots and sansho chili in it with the enthusiasm of a scientist who has just had a major, salad-related breakthrough. In case the internet told you this salad bowl would change your life, good luck with that. But for a quick meal that has enough dressing and perfectly-cooked protein to be deeply satisfying—along with enough curly kale to feel like you're making a good choice for your body—this is a great option. Sweetgreen should be scared.

Food Rundown

House Pop

ThisBowl makes their own soda. It's less sweet than the regular stuff, and way more refreshing. Try the cucumber-thai basil.

The O.G.

Each of the house bowls has a laundry list of ingredients on them, so we won't go into too much detail, but they’ve clearly been engineered in a salad lab, so trust that every ingredient is there for a reason. Highlights of The O.G. include an ice cream scoop of avocado, seaweed salad, and roasted sesame dressing. Choose your base (we like a sushi rice/cabbage combo), and go for the salmon sashimi as your protein.

Miso Salmon

The miso salmon might just be our favorite bowl here. The cooked salmon stands up a bit better to all the toppings than the salmon sashimi in The O.G., and it also has that beautiful avocado scoop.
