Gupshup

Gupshup is a casual weeknight dinner option in a neighborhood that doesn’t have a ton of those. The food at this Gramercy Indian spot includes classic dishes like butter chicken and various kulchas, as well as fusion-y options like roasted bone marrow with five-spice naan and tomato rasam ramen. The things we’ve tried have been hit (the chicken tikka) and miss (the over-spiced chutneys), but since the majority of the dishes on the menu are under $20, it’s worth coming here with a few people and trying a bunch of small plates and reasonably-priced bottles of wine. The space has bright, life-size murals and some colorful cocktails infused with Indian spices, but because it’s in a relatively quiet area, don’t expect anything at all rowdy.
