Foodstruck
Foodstruck was formerly a late-night takeout window serving that genre of over-the-top food that tends to trend online: fried chicken, loaded fries, and Philly cheesesteaks finished with a zigzag of sauce. Now, this Astoria favorite is a mini diner—they’re only open until 12am, but their dirty fries and chopped cheese were too good to be relegated to drunk food anyway. There are a few tables, and a counter where the chef will chat with you while he cooks if you come in for a solo dinner. Start with the hits: the Loco Moco, a Hawaii-inspired beef and rice bowl topped with umami gravy, and The Big Will, fried chicken thighs covered in a tamarind glaze that they need to bottle ASAP.
