Bati is an Ethiopian spot in Fort Greene that’s ideal for a date or a small group, both because it’s intimate and all of the food is meant to be shared. Everything on the menu - from the well-spiced missir wett (berbere stewed split lentils) to the gingery collard greens - is excellent, and the best way to try as much as possible is to get a meat or vegan combo platter, each of which can easily feed two and comes with unlimited injera. Do yourself a favor though and get the kitfo as well. It’s their spicy, buttery version of steak tartare, and it’ll be the one dish that everyone at the table will want the last bite of.

Walter's has mastered the art of the perfect neighborhood restaurant. Plus, we're pretty sure it's named after a dog.
