Balkan Streat
Every neighborhood could use more ćevapi. In the West Village, Balkan Streat is handling the situation. Inspired by family recipes and street food classics from Southeastern Europe, this counter-service spot also serves flaky stuffed pitas, a Balkan-style burger with a flapjack-sized patty, and puffy filled donuts that ooze like Gushers. Stop by for a quick, satisfying lunch that revolves around bread and grilled meat. The little space, which looks like a street vendor stall as imagined by Philip K. Dick, has a few tables up front, but you can also just take your food to go. Don’t leave without a slice of cheeseburger burek.
