Bad Luck Bar

With its red lighting, round marble bar, and oyster Happy Hour special (two drinks and 13 oysters for $33), Bad Luck Bar in Bed-Stuy is a certifiably sexy spot. And although it would make for a great first date with a bivalve enthusiast, you don’t want your new favorite bar ruined by someone who might suck. So invite a person you already love for martinis and fries, or the people who’d happily share a $45 negroni pitcher with you, crowded around a tiny table in the front window. Or come by yourself for a cocktail, some light chat with the bartender, and a thick slice of pepperoni pan pizza. Whenever we’ve been here solo, they’ve given us the corner piece, and that’s the very best one.
