ALF Bakery

Run by an alum of cult favorite Arcade Bakery, Alf has a loyal following of its own thanks to its much-hyped laminated baguettes. These laminated baguettes are exactly as good as you'd imagine the love child of a croissant and a loaf of bread to be—and we like the punchy fougasse with olives and capers at this tiny bakery in the basement of Chelsea Market even more. Alf is only open from Wednesday to Sunday, but their baked goods are worth a little planning, and they have sandwiches during lunch. While there, grab a lemon sugar brioche and half a sourdough miche to quarter and freeze at home.
