A meal at Saddle Peak feels like you’ve left Los Angeles and walked into a billionaire’s hunting ranch in Montana. The historic space, which used to be a Pony Express stop, has a massive back patio and a menu filled with excellent hard-to-find meats like elk, emu, and bison.

Idle Hour is one of our favorite places to drink in the entire Valley - it’s a giant barrel on the side of Lankershim in North Hollywood. And though you can’t drink inside the barrel right now, you can certainly throw a few back on their patio.

If you’ve missed wine bars as much as we have, you’ll want to check out Esters newly reopened patio. They have a giant wine list, plus excellent charcuterie and other snacks. If you’re in the market for something a bit stronger, try the Old Fashioneds.

Red Lion is an LA classic, and one of the only German beer gardens in the city. This isn’t where you come to sample sours and discuss how many notes of apricot you’re getting. This is where you come to drink gigantic steins of beer, nod along as your one friend tries to explain Australian rugby, and stumble out four hours later than you intended.

The casual French spot in West Hollywood has one of our favorite new patios in the neighborhood. Be sure to get there early, as it tends to get crowded at night.

This firehouse-turned-restaurant has one of the best patios on the Eastside. It’s the kind of place you take out-of-towners in the middle of winter to show off the fact we can sit outside in the middle of winter.

Theia is an upscale Greek restaurant on W. 3rd St. that’s one of the newer spots in Beverly Grove. They have an expansive menu filled with everything from assorted mezze to a dry-aged Tomahawk ribeye, plus a large list of cocktails, wine, and beer.

Despite being located uncomfortably close to the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, The Misfit is a casual bar and restaurant that manages to have solid bar food, great cocktails, and a crowd that’s mostly devoid of tourists.

Pilot is the rooftop restaurant at Downtown LA’s Hoxton Hotel. They’ve got an open-air dining room that opens at noon with a snack menu featuring dishes like chicory salad, fried artichoke hearts, and baked ziti. On Friday and Saturdays, they’re open until 11pm.

Tokyo Hamburg in Koreatown is one of our favorite party spots in LA, and they also have fantastic Japanese bar food, including cheese katsu, okonomiyaki, and their namesake Tokyo hamburg. It’s essentially a DIY-smashburger setup, with a big hunk of grass-fed beef and a sizzling hot stone that you smash it down on right at the table.

Bacari is a local mini-chain known for its excellent drink deals and solid small plates. But this location is special because of its patio, tucked away from the blow-dry bars and cupcake shops on West 3rd Street. Walking in feels like you’ve entered a portal into a European forest with trees growing every which way, and giant lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

Located in Los Feliz, Home has a beautiful patio on Hillhurst that feels like you’re eating and drinking inside a treehouse. Don’t worry though, there aren’t any secret passwords to weed out the adults. The food menu skews mostly towards comfort food, with everything from baby back ribs to bacon mac and cheese.

Sure, there are fancier spots to grab a drink on The Strip, but those involve reservations, lines, and putting on expensive clothes. If you’re looking for a low-key spot to grab a quick drink and call it a night, State Social House is your spot.

Spartina is an Italian spot on Melrose with a big front patio and solid food across the board. It’s a great spot to meet up with a friend or someone from a dating app who you aren’t totally sold on yet.

Big Bar in Los Feliz is attached to The Alcove on Hillhurst and serves some of the best cocktails in the neighborhood. The massive front patio has plenty of room to spread out and relax.

Hyperion Public is a Silver Lake standby and the kind of neighborhood pub that’s guaranteed to always have solid bar food, friendly service, and an empty table for you and your friend. They also have a location in Studio City.

This popular Weho spot is open again with a new menu featuring a selection of small plates like salt-and-pepper calamari, lobster quesadilla, and tuna tartare crostini. Keep in mind that there is currently no bar service and everyone must be seated at a table while on the patio. They aren’t currently accepting reservations, so be prepared to wait in line outside.
