Tony's Italian Beef
When you’re standing in line debating on what to order and hear “doesn’t matter, this is the best Italian beef in Chicago” from the guy behind you, it’s a good sign. That’s what happened to us the first time we went to Tony's. And we’re happy to report that, while prone to hyperbole, he wasn’t a liar. The sandwich at Tony’s, a south side staple in West Lawn, has perfectly spiced beef topped with tender sweet peppers, and it’s good enough on its own, even if you order it dry. But skip the giardiniera, this sandwich doesn’t need it.
