It’s hard to ignore the Barbie-pink signage and massive inflatable bear on the roof of Teddy’s—and you shouldn’t, because the ice cream at this little family-owned shop in Lincoln Square is fantastic. Once you’ve hemmed and hawed on their patio before giving in to the siren song of an ice cream break, the real work begins. You’ll have to choose between ultra-smooth soft serve, more than 10 different sundaes, a “Poseidon swirl” (Teddy’s take on a candy-filled blizzard), and some Greek-inspired specialties involving visinada, figs, and walnuts. The classic hand-dipped flavors are also done well here, but we highly recommend branching out and trying something like the blueberry ice cream with bits of chocolate-covered waffle cone mixed in. No matter what you order, expect a scoop that’s the perfect consistency and full of flavor, without tasting artificial.
