It’s tempting to always go for the bolognese when you’re in a neighborhood Italian restaurant, but if you automatically do that at Tavolo in Ashmont, you’ll miss out on some more interesting things like mushroom braised polenta and short rib cannelloni, which take this place up a notch from a standard Tuesday night red sauce and chianti place. It’s got pizzas and a big bar too, so it’s also just a fun place to just grab drinks if you’re in the area.
