February is here, and another month brings lots of new things to do and eat. There’s a breakfast sandwich pop-up over in Oakland, a new Happy Hour in NoPa to check out, and more. Read on for your month’s plans and keep checking back for weekly updates.

In celebration of Black History Month, the Oakland Museum of California is hosting four days of food events (February 23rd-26th). So if a shrimp and grits taste-off, seven-course dinner featuring local wines, or a soul food brunch with live jazz sound exciting to you, snag a ticket.

Automat, our favorite all-day bakery and restaurant in NoPa, is kicking off a new Wednesday Happy Hour (4:30-6pm) starting February 22nd. They’ll have apéritifs by Mommenpop, new dishes like pickled clam dip and loaded fries, and $5 beer and $8 wine.
Egg Pals, the breakfast sandwich pop-up, will be popping up in Oakland at Tacos Oscar (February 25th) and Ramen Shop (February 26th). The sandwiches feature fried eggs (naturally), plus things like slow-roasted pork shoulder, pickled onions, jalapeños, and carrots, and provolone.
On February 26th at 12pm, Salvadoran pop-up Popoca is hosting a pig roast at Korner, a commercial kitchen in Oakland’s Fruitvale. $40 will get you a plate of 10-hour slow roasted pork, carrot rice, beans, escabeche, and tortillas—more details here.

The bartending team from The Alembic, one of our favorite bars in the Haight, is hosting another round of Monday Night Mixology classes on February 27th. The next class is an Intro To Mixology crash course involving seasonal winter ingredients. Tickets are available here.

On February 25th, Speakeasy Ales & Lagers is hosting Veguary Food Festival in partnership with the SF Veg Society. Between 12-5pm, head to the Bayview brewery for plant-based dishes from local Black-owned food businesses. The full lineup hasn’t been released, but keep an eye on their Instagram for details.

Every Tuesday this February, the now-closed Cambodian restaurant in Oakland Nyum Bai is popping up at the wine bar Buddy in the Mission. Dishes include old Nyum Bai favorites like papaya salad and simmered pork in coconut milk. Walk-ins only.

The rotating chef pop-up series at Turntable in Polk Gulch continues. And this month, Bay Area-based pop-up immi is in charge of the menu. You’ll see Chinese- and Japanese-influenced dishes like chilled long life noodles and duck tsukune if you choose the tasting menu ($200). Popcorn chicken and milk tea ice cream will be available from the takeout window.

A brunch-inspired vegetarian dinner is going down at Greens in the Marina on February 23rd ($58 per person). It’s a collaboration with Lulu, the Palestinian breakfast and lunch spot in Berkeley. Expect dishes like halloumi and apple jam, “shakshouka-quiles” with harissa, and baklava french toast.
Oakland’s annual celebration of Black joy is back, and this year it’s happening on February 26th from 12:30-7pm. The parade starts downtown and ends uptown—there'll be a skating rink, food from Black-owned vendors, games, and more. Keep an eye on their Instagram for more information.
