NYC Restaurant Workers Are Second To Last In The State’s Vaccine Rollout Plan

It’s unclear when that might happen.

According to New York’s CDC-advised vaccine distribution plan, restaurant workers (who are grouped into the category, “all other essential workers”) won’t receive vaccines until Phase 4. That’s another way of saying, not anytime soon.

Right now NYC is in Phase 1A of the state’s rollout plan, which includes nursing home residents and staff, as well as all public-facing health care workers. It’s unclear when Phase 4 might happen. FYI, healthy adults and children won’t be vaccinated until the final installment - Phase 5.

The Governor also announced that, by the end of this week, 911,000 vaccines will have been distributed to providers across the state. In a press conference on Wednesday, Cuomo said New York State is receiving 300,000 dosages from the federal government per week. Allegedly, both the federal government and private vaccine companies are increasing production. “Experts are talking about March or April for large-scale public distribution,” Cuomo stated on Wednesday.
