11 NYC Spots Celebrating Pride This Weekend

Pride Weekend is a special time in New York City. One year ago today, you may have been testing rainbow-colored body paints on a roommate or buying new walking shoes to carry you through a full weekend of parading around Chelsea to the tune of blasting techno. But since life in the city looks different right now, you’re probably wondering how you can still have a safe and socially distant good time. That’s why we put together a list of some spots across NYC hosting everything from outdoor Happy Hours to virtual parties all weekend long. So, if you’re ready to party and donate to organizations supporting the LGBTQI+ community right now, here are 11 ways to do it.

The Spots

• Anton’s in the West Village is having a disco party this Sunday in collaboration with Cubby Hole, and 10% of all proceeds will be donated to The Okra Project. They’ll be serving cocktails, wine, and a bunch of party food, like burgers, tacos, and wings.

• Harlem Tavern is hosting a Happy Hour on Friday night from 5 to 7:30pm in celebration of Pride Weekend. Drag queen, Supanova will be performing and all of the proceeds will benefit G.L.I.T.S., a grassroots organization dedicated to supporting the LGBTQI+ community on a global scale.

• Clover Club in Cobble Hill is having a drag show on Saturday from 1 to 3pm, with a performance by Miz Jade. The bar is giving away a free hand made mask and pride cake with every cocktail purchase, plus all proceeds from the event will benefit the Marsha P. Johnson Institute.

• The Awkward Scone in Bushwick is having a rainbow cake sale this Saturday from 11am to 2pm, and all proceeds will benefit The Okra Project. Each one comes individually wrapped, and there’s even a blue, pink, and white variation to celebrate the Trans Pride flag. The cakes will be free for Black trans folks, and you can order yours by sending them a DM on Instagram.

• Mother’s Ruin in Nolita will be hosting a pride event on Saturday from 3 to 6pm, with performances by Daphne Always, The Maine Attraction, Siren Starlite and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Ali Forney Center, G.L.I.T.S., and The Audre Lorde Project.

• The Honeywell in Harlem is hosting a drag show on Monday, June 29th from 5 to 7pm. Princess Pitch will perform and all bar proceeds from the event will benefit the Callen-Lorde Organization.

• Nowadays in Ridgewood is hosting three different livestream events to celebrate Pride Weekend and raise funds for Princess Janae Place, an organization that helps fight homelessness within the trans community. • Llama San is doing a pop-up this Sunday to celebrate Pride Weekend and raise funds for the LGBTQ Freedom Fund. They’ll be selling ceviche, anticuchos, and cocktails curbside starting at 12pm.

• Happy Fun Hideaway in Bushwick will be reopening for Pride weekend with a series of events starting at 5pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

• Henrietta Hudson is hosting a weekend-long virtual party called Pride On The Fly, with all proceeds donated to The Audre Lorde Project. It begins tonight and runs through Sunday, so if you ever want to join, you can find the full schedule and Zoom link here.

• The Lot Radio, a Brooklyn-based independent radio station, is throwing a 56+ hour virtual party to raise funds for several different LGBTQI+ organizations, like The Okra Project and Black Trans Travel Fund. For more information about set times and buying a donation ticket, head to their website.
