Taquería Carne & Asada
Ignore the tortas and brick-sized “super burritos” at this San Gabriel stand and stick to the tacos served on homemade corn tortillas. These corn tortillas are so soft they disappear after a big mouthful of carne and tart salsa verde (which is spicy in an addictive, lip-tingling way, so ask for extra.) Count on this reliable taquería for a quick meal in the area. But know that the meats could be crispier and more generously seasoned. Both the carnitas and al pastor pull apart like cotton candy, but you need to drown them in lime and salsa to inject life into their personalities.
