You might expect the majority of people in the basement bar of a whiskey shop to be blokes, but actually there’s a pretty even mix on any given night. It’s a bar hidden behind a bookcase at the back of Milroys whiskey shop, and there’s a cosy little downstairs space with coves, big leather sofas, and people having intense conversations about single malts. It’s a good bar, and definitely worth dragging the one dissenter in your group to, even if they complain loudly that they ‘just wanted a vodka red bull’. As well as a good selection of whiskeys from bourbons to the Japanese varieties, there are also nice vodka, rum, and mezcal cocktails to shut them up.

We love Two Floors for being a no-nonsense bar in Soho, and there's a tiki bar in the basement as a bonus. Also excellent for outdoor drinks.
Chin Chin Dessert Club
Chin Chin Dessert Club in Soho has more of a shiny sit-down feel than their original spot in Camden. They serve the same excellent ice cream though.
Ikoyi is a casual fine dining restaurant in St James Market serving a Modern European take on West African cuisine.
