Quality Wines is the kind of place that feels so natural and obvious and lived in, that you’ll imagine it’s been doing its thing on this quiet corner of Farringdon Road forever. They serve different hot and cold sandwiches every day through the week, as well as excellent sausage rolls and other baked things. That means you should probably be coming here for lunch - either take-out or eat in - Monday to Friday, just like we have. You should also definitely come in the evenings, when it becomes the kind of place where you pull a bottle of wine from the shelves and crowd round a cafe table or the central console with two or three friends. Snacks like whipped lardo on toast and radicchio wrapped in pancetta are both inexpensive and excellent, and the £13 pheasant crown with buttery cavolo nero is a must order - as is one more bottle of wine.
