Fun fact: Gezellig is a dutch word that is best translated as ‘an atmosphere which allows good times to happen’. But if we were going by our experience at this Holborn restaurant we’d think it meant, ‘an okay time, with some okay food, and lots of tan leather’. The space itself is pretty much how we envision Jules Holland’s home - with olive walls, a vintage bar, and plenty of framed pictures of Hendrix, Bowie, and Grace Jones. Although the food here can be pretty hit or miss for the money, they have a long, long wine list, and a perfectly pleasant mezzanine bar.
Gezellig is permanently closed.
