Forno

At Forno, everywhere you look there’s something that demands to be eaten—plump maritozzi filled with cloud-like cream, blistered focaccia pizza slices cooling on racks, and a deli with pretty dried pasta. Getting a single coffee ends up being a pipe dream, and the tiramisu that’s practically winking at you from the fridge knows it. This Italian bakery in Hackney feels like a club you want to be a part of. A chic pair sit in the corner making a business meeting look cool, friends who definitely host dinner parties catch up over a cornetto before work, and a constant parade of photogenic dogs demand to be stroked. You can’t go wrong when ordering here as everything is excellent—but the salami pizza with a blitzed broccoli base and the decadent milk chocolate and sea salt praline bun should be your go-tos. To avoid the weekend queues, come midweek when it’s much quieter and you’re guaranteed a maritozzo.
