Crisp Pizza W6 at The Chancellors
You might assume this pizza pop-up inside The Chancellors pub is named Crisp Pizza W6 after the street it’s on in Hammersmith. But we think it's to do with the fact that the base on the margherita is crispier than any we’ve ever had. The gravity-defying slices hold their own and the tomato sauce is rich and basil-heavy, with the perfect distribution of melted mozzarella and a sprinkling of parmesan. These are the best thin-crust, New York-style pizzas in London.
On a summer's day the scene outside the pub will tempt you to stay all afternoon. Diners put their order in at the bar (although we recommend pre-ordering via Instagram as they regularly sell out early) then hover outside where they’ll stare down anyone who looks like they’re even thinking of leaving. Servers come out parading pizzas that are so thin they barely show if you’re not looking at it from a pigeon’s-eye view. The sounds of people’s names and orders being shouted out blends into the background noise of beer glasses clinking, dogs loudly chewing on stray pepperoni chips, and the crunching of pizza. If you don’t find a seat, a takeaway box and five-minute stroll make for one of London’s most wholesome riverside picnics.
On the 360 days a year when it’s too cold to sit outside, the cosy (read: very small) and dimly lit pub makes for a perfectly nice room in which to eat an excessive amount of pizza. Calzone will warm you from the inside and crispy crusts will leave your hands in serious need of a napkin—or five. For a place that makes you pre-order your pizza days in advance, it’s all very laid-back once you’re there. Or maybe we just felt laid-back because we’d secured some of London’s best—and most desirable—pizza.

Cheese Pie
Think of the crispiest crust you’ve had. Times that by three and that’s just how crispy this margherita base is. The tomato sauce peeks through uneven splodges of mozzarella and flor di latte, and there’s enough aromatic basil that you get some in every bite.

Pepperoni Pie
Unlike the sturdy base of the cheese pie, this has got some flop. But we’re not complaining. There’s the same rich, basil-heavy sauce with the pleasing addition of meaty, slightly spicy pepperoni.

Nduja Pie
Another floppy boy, but not a flop. In fact, this was the better of the two meaty pizzas we tried. Spicy ‘nduja and creamy mozzarella are made for each other, and there’s a generous amount of each.

Funghi Pie
Margherita—but make it earthy. The mushrooms are salty and thrown on haphazardly. Our favourite bites are the ones with plenty of mushroom.

4 Cheese Calzone
The unexpected star of the show, this calzone is a winner. We don’t know whether it was the creamy ricotta or the dough—delightfully soggy from the tomato sauce—that makes it so addictively good. Just try it.

Nutella Calzone
Warning: things will get messy. A Nutella and mascarpone-filled calzone that’s moreish, over the top, and absolutely worth ordering.
