Queen Mary Tavern
“British maritime drinking tradition” is the theme of this rustic Wicker Park bar. At Queen Mary Tavern, most of the cocktails are made with gin or rum—two liquors traditionally popular in the British Navy (at least until the daily sailor rum ration was abolished in 1970). And the drinks here are great, with everything from refreshing fruity drinks to an incredibly stiff, but tasty, Old Fashioned made with both liquors. The mid-century wooden space is cozy, with a long bar and a few leather booths, but they also have a nice outdoor patio. Stop by on Sundays 3-7pm or Mondays 5-7pm when they have $1 oysters and $9 martinis.
