Taqueria 1836
It’s a classic scenario as old as time—you want tacos, your friend wants pizza, and you both want a margarita. Enter: The Tailor Shop Foodery, a mini food hall in South Austin that’s home to Taqueria 1836 and Pizzeria Grata. When we say food hall, we use that term lightly—think of The Tailor Shop as a bar with a couple different virtual kitchens attached to it, one of them being this little virtual taqueria. All you need to know is that once you open up that QR code menu, you’ll be able to order a wide range of classic taqueria foods, ranging from street tacos and tortas, to birria and ceviche—all of it served on housemade corn tortillas. Everything we’ve had here has been solid and dependable, even if it’s not a place we find ourselves regularly craving. Grab a salsa sampler to work your way through the endless options (OK, there’s actually about six), then mix and match with al pastor, carnitas, fajita, and more for a world of combinations.
