La Roma

Usually, when you want to remember an epic trip, you grab a t-shirt or endlessly sift through your camera roll. But for the Philadelphians who went to Mexico City and loved it, they can just head to Port Richmond’s La Roma. With brick walls, candlelight, hanging plants, and pictures of the Colonia Roma all around, the cozy Port Richmond restaurant is inspired by the famous neighborhood.  The menu is a mashup of Italian, Japanese, Mexican, and other cuisines you may find around Roma. But our favorites here are the chicken empanadas, arancini stuffed with kielbasa and gouda cheese, and short rib tagliatelle ragu. And with an impeccable drink menu and impressive tequila and mezcal lists, it’s a casual place to walk into with a group of friends, sip on a cocktail, and forget you’re right off the Delaware Expressway.
