Fer Restaurant
If Spider-Man asked us where to fuel up on Chinese noodle soups before embarking on a web-slinging mission in Manhattan, we’d send him to Fer Restaurant in Long Island City. Their filling bowls of noodles—which you can get dry or in broth—are spicy, flavorful, and served in giant portions. Plus the window-filled, LED-lit restaurant is right next to an abandoned school, which could serve as a base of operations. They offer a couple small plates and classic Szechuan offal dishes (like tripe and pork tongues), but stick to the noodles, especially the spicy chicken rice noodle soup with silky poached chicken and flagrant chili oil that’s perfect for an easy weeknight dinner—or great fuel for swinging around NYC.
