When Cher declared she was debuting a gelato truck in the summer of 2023, it felt like a true “where were you when” moment. The Instagram announcement included images of a mysterious Italian man named Giapo. We had questions. Was it a bit? Then we tracked down the truck and found Giapo and the gelato both to be extremely real. This gelato is not the best in town by any means, but it still gives you that soft, silkiness you want on a hot California day. Our current favorite flavor is “Cher’s Mom’s Cheesecake,” which at the very least, allows you to say you’ve had Cher’s mom’s cheesecake. Currently, the truck is only available for private events (which you can book through their website), but here's hoping they resume popping up at various locations in LA again soon.
