Trill Burgers
Trill Burgers, the casual smashburger spot from Houston rap legend Bun B, originally started as a pop-up, but now it has a permanent home in the old James Coney Island building in Montrose. The black-and-yellow burger joint spins classic H-Town hip-hop and is usually packed out, with lines around the building most weekends. But for all of the buzz, the line moves quickly, service is lightning fast, and the menu is straight to the point: a seasoned double or triple smashburger served with crispy fries and a drink. There are vegan patties available, and for the tiny OGs, there’s a kids’ smashburger, too. We think Trill Burgers are good, but not quite worth waiting in the heat for, so try to come on a weekday, when the line will only extend to the front door.

OG Burger Combo
Two thinly smashed patties are coated with cheese, caramelized onions, pickles and, of course, Trill sauce. We aren’t sure what the sauce consists of, but it’s slightly sweet and lives somewhere between a thousand island dressing and a chipotle mayo.

Triple OG Burger Combo
If you’re feeling extra hungry, add on an extra patty and take down the Triple OG combo. Just don’t forget to ask for extra Trill sauce.
