New York Deli & Coffee Shop
Included In
Ask anyone in Houston who knows anything about bagels, and they’ll probably mention the name New York Deli just southwest of Bellaire. The combination bagel bakery, deli, and diner opened in the mid-1970s and continues to crank out bagels at a never ending pace. Show up any day of the week and people will be lined up for a couple dozen assorted bagels to go with tubs of cream cheese. On the weekends, the tiny cafe that resembles a 1980s mall cafeteria gets packed with folks splitting cheese blintzes, challah french toast, and lox with all the fixings. So grab a cream cheese and tomato on everything, a side of smoked whitefish, or stay for a coffee and egg breakfast at the diner counter.
