Afghan Saray

When we visited Afghan Saray in Edgewater, rain was pouring, tornado sirens were blasting, and we were just happy to have found a place to hide out and relax. And the food at this casual Afghan restaurant provided the comfort we needed during the storm.

The menu has a variety of delicious, flavorful dishes, like thin potato-filled bolani, a zesty stewed eggplant with tangy yogurt, and a buttery uzbek qabuli with pilowy rice flavored by juice from the pieces of tender lamb mixed in with it. There’s plenty of room for group seating, and a cozy spot at the front where you can sit on the floor cushions by their big windows—just probably not during a tornado warning.
