Atop Little Sparrow in West Midtown, this French bar only serves steak frites (though the prix fixe menu also includes a table salad and bread). While the steak is solid, the meal as a whole isn't worth shelling out $50 (unless you really plan on taking advantage of the unlimited fries, which come with a tasty bearnaise). The real move is to hit the cozy Bar Blanc space for a classic cocktail. If you can picture it clutched in the hands of Don Draper, that drink is probably on the menu. Sipping a stiff Old Fashioned beneath dimly lit chandeliers, you might find yourself scanning the compact yet stylish blue subway-tiled room for a cigarette girl on her rounds. The only thing that will drag you back into the present is the French electronica as background noise.
